FLUFFY GIRL PROBLEMS by Ashton at afluffygirl.com

image
This is so real to me cause I'm a BBW or fluffy too. So, this is a cool reblog....Enjoy!!!
Fluffy Girl Problems...
You probably have the same ones I do, and they suck.
There are things I do all the time, because I am Fluffy:
1) Yank on my shirt the minute I sit down.
2) When wearing shorts, constantly reaching up and pulling them down because they ride up. So it looks like I'm always touching on my lady parts.
3) Having to position my head just right for pictures so my double chin doesn't show.
4) Wearing long shirts/undershirts to hide the awful foopa. (Lower ab pooch)
5) Having to make sure hair and makeup looks awesome to compensate for a not awesome body.
6) Can never just buy a cute bathing suit as is, always looking for a skirt/shorts to match to cover up them thunder thighs.
7) At buffet lunch/dinner, waiting for everyone else to make their plates first so you can see how much they got, so you don't get more....then waiting to see if they go back for seconds so that you can go too.
8) Speaking of food, eating what you want when no one is around or looking so they don't judge you.
9) Avoiding anything sleeveless because arm jiggle gaggle is embarrassing.
10) Feeling like no one will take you completely serious because of your weight.

BLACK HISTORY’S BEST LOVE AFFAIRS: MARTIN AND CORRIE by Dee Johnson from Theblackberrypreserve.com

I know I'm a bit late for Valentine's day with this reblog, but this is still appropriate for black history month.

#28DaysofFresh

More than a dreamer. More than a silent wife. They were two people who fell in love, courted (yeah I said courted, it works so I hear), got married, began a family and started a revolution.

Coretta Scott was born and raised in Marion, AL (a homegirl!) and received a B.A. in music and education from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. She then went on to study concert singing at Boston’s New England Conservatory of Music, where she was introduced to an elegant and articulate young man named Martin. He was then studying for his doctorate in systematic theology at Boston University, where he embraced the teachings of Gandhi and the principles of nonviolence - an idea that was, at that time, unheard of as an philosophical concept. On recalling her first thoughts of him, Mrs. King recounted in Parting the Waters, by Taylor Branch that Dr. King was “very much in the market for a wife, and called her after getting her name from a friend and announced in his first phone call to her: “You know every Napoleon has his Waterloo,” he said. “I’m like Napoleon. I’m at my Waterloo, and I’m on my knees.” Ms. Scott, two years his elder, replied: “That’s absurd. You don’t even know me.” Still, she agreed to meet for lunch the next day, only to be put off initially that he was not taller (I feel her; I don’t do short either; everyone has a preference). She agreed to go out with him nonetheless. He said, "I'll come over and pick you up. I have a green Chevy that usually takes ten minutes to make the trip from B.U., but tomorrow I'll do it in seven (swag).” He stated that he enjoyed her conversation, about music, racial and economic injustice and peace. And reportedly after an hour, his mind was made up, "So you can do something else besides sing? You've got a good mind also. You have everything I ever wanted in a woman. We ought to get married someday." Although she found him somewhat cocky, she was impressed by his sophistication and letters filled with poetry –,“My life without you is like a year without a spring time which comes to give illumination and heat to the atmosphere saturated by the dark cold breeze of winter. . . . O excuse me, my darling. I didn't mean to go off on such a poetical and romantic flight. But how else can we express the deep emotions of life other than in poetry? Isn't love too ineffable to be grasped by the cold calculating hands of intellect?” That was July 18, 1952. Hot.

They were married on June 18, 1953, and in September 1954 they were living in Montgomery. Newlywed Coretta Scott King began making a home and assuming the many functions of pastor’s wife at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church (from The King Center website). Even before the wedding however, she had made it very clear to her intended that she would continue to be her own woman. “She stunned Dr. King’s father, the Rev. Martin Luther King Sr., who presided over the wedding, by demanding that the promise to obey her husband be removed from the wedding vows. Reluctantly, he went along. After it was over, the bridegroom fell asleep in the car on the way back to Atlanta while the new Mrs. King did the driving” (from The New York Times). Dr. King however, wrote Michael Dyson, felt very different about their roles in marriage: "King was in constant conflict with his wife about her role. She wanted to become much more involved in the movement; he wanted her to stay home and raise their children" (from his book I May Not Get There With You). Mrs. King stated about her role as wife to the civil rights crusader, “I had no problem being the wife of Martin, but I was never just a wife. In the 1950s, as a concert singer, I performed ‘freedom concerts’ raising funds for the movement. I ran my household, raised my children, and spoke out on world issues. Maybe people didn’t know that I was always an activist because the media wasn’t watching. I once told Martin that although I loved being his wife and a mother, if that was all I did I would have gone crazy. I felt a calling on my life from an early age. I knew I had something to contribute to the world” (from The Washington Post).

Like modern couples, but at a level that most couples could not withstand, Martin and Corrie were separated for most of their marriage due to the motion of the movement and need to be everywhere that a new issue arose. Dr. King wrote of his beloved, “My devoted wife has been a constant source of consolation to me through all the difficulties. In the midst of the most tragic experiences, she never became panicky or overemotional. I have come to see the real meaning of that rather trite statement: a wife can either make or break a husband. My wife was always stronger than I was through the struggle. While she had certain natural fears and anxieties concerning my welfare, she never allowed them to hamper my active participation in the movement. Corrie proved to be that type of wife with qualities to make a husband when he could have been so easily broken. In the darkest moments, she always brought the light of hope.” He wrote her constantly while on the road and they apparently kept the home fires burning, resulting in four beautiful children, Martin Luther III, Dexter Scott, Yolanda Denise, and Bernice Albertine.

securedownload-1Despite the FBI’s so-called proof and the rants of perhaps the worst best friend ever, Reverend Ralph Abernathy writing that Dr. King had numerous adulterous affairs, Mrs. King stated that she and Martin "never had one single serious discussion about either of us being involved with another person” (I May Not Get There With You, by Michael Dyson). She remained steadfast in her love and devotion to her husband and in his autobiography wrote, “I am indebted to my wife Coretta, without whose love, sacrifices, and loyalty neither life nor work would bring fulfillment. She has given me words of consolation when I needed them and a well-ordered home where Christian love is a reality." And these are the things that for me are the hallmarks of real love: devotion, respect, understanding and reliability. I believe that he knew that he could always count on his Corrie to be there and that she knew that no matter where he was or what he was doing her Martin was always coming home to the family that he loved.

When Dr. King was assassinated outside a motel room in Memphis, Tenn., on April 4, 1968, Mrs. King channeled her grief and love for her husband into action and few days later led a march through the streets of Memphis (from ABC News). That love also propelled her forward to carry on his legacy and to honor his life by having a national holiday in named in his honor and to build a nationally recognized center in Atlanta that would serve as a research center for scholars studying his work and the civil rights era. Love is defined as “a deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness.” How fitting that today, Valentine’s Day, we recognize the love of two who shared that deep, tender, ineffable feeling of oneness with all of humankind; so I ask you Blackberry Preserve family, in all sincerity, who are you loving today? ….

Homemade Mouthwash Recipe for Whitening and Remineralizing by Elizabeth Walling

For better or worse, I require a lot out of my mouthwash. All the artificial sweeteners and chemical additives in conventional mouthwash are a no-no in my book, but often “natural” mouthwash brands fall short for me too. Either they aren’t so natural, not really effective, or insanely expensive. So for a couple of years, I’ve been perfecting my own mouthwash recipe and I wanted to share it with you.

What I Look for in a Mouthwash

1. It must be minty. I never went for the whole citrus mouthwash fad–and the herbal ones that taste like a snake oil remedy from 1894 aren’t my cup of tea either.
2. It must be (a little) sweet. No sickeningly sweet flavor is necessary, of course, but a touch of sweetness makes the whole mouthwash experience a little more pleasant.
3. It should remineralize. Ideally, our saliva “bathes” our teeth in minerals to restore what might be lost through eating, drinking, and everyday life. Imbalances can interfere with the process (which is discussed in the bookCure Tooth Decay), so I feel like it doesn’t hurt to use a mouthwash that serves as a sort of backup.
4. It should whiten. Hey, I admit I like a nice bright smile. But I don’t like to use icky whitening kits that burn my gums and contain who-knows-what. I also prefer something that does a little whitening every day, instead of having to worry about something I need to do on a weekly or monthly basis. Because, let’s face it, I’ll just forget!
5. It should protect from cavities. Again, this is just a protective measure. As Weston A. Price reported so thoroughly in his book Nutrition and Physical Degeneration, diet has a tremendous impact on our dental health. But I still don’t mind having a mouthwash that works in my favor, if that makes sense.
So with these five requirements in mind, I fiddled with ingredients until I found a recipe that tastes good and does what I want it to do. Here’s what I’ve come up with:

How to Make Homemade Mouthwash that Whitens and Remineralizes

Ingredients:
Directions:
  1. In a large glass mixing cup, stir together the calcium powder and xylitol crystals.
  2. Add liquid minerals and essential oils.
  3. Add water and stir.
  4. Pour mixture into a glass bottle (I reused an old apple cider vinegar bottle).
  5. Close the lid tightly and shake ingredients together for about 30-60 seconds so the xylitol dissolves.
  6. Shake well before using.
  7. Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Why These Ingredients?

Calcium carbonate powder: for remineralizing teeth
Xylitol crystals: for sweetness and cavity protection
Concentrated trace minerals liquid: for remineralizing teeth
Peppermint essential oil: for flavor and fresh breath
Lemon essential oil: for whiter, brighter teeth
Spearmint essential oil: for flavor and fresh breath

Girls compete with each other. Women empower one another.-Unknown

How about this: girls and women need to learn to compete positively and how not to take competition so darn personally. So that they can empower themselves and one another.

3 Types of People that Don't Respect Marriage by Troy Spry from website BlackandMarriedWithKids.com (reblog)

Respect!!!

It seems like cheating and affairs are at an all time high; Hollywood scandal is full of how unfaithful this or that person is and their saga plays out in the media for us all to see and judge. The philanderer is dragged through the mud; but I think it’s time we step back for a second and look at the entire picture. People aren’t having affairs by themselves and it usually comes down to the issue of respect! Let’s talk about a few scenarios…follow me.  People don’t cheat alone so here are a few kinds of folks they may end up “doing-the-do” with:

1) Mr. or Mrs. “they’re separated.”

Last I checked separated still meant married.  As a coach, so many times I see people get involved with someone who is married just because they wanted so badly to believe that being separated means it’s okay to get involved with that person. These are the same people who end up hurt because “separated” doesn’t turn into divorce and he or she ends up right back with their husband or wife. Suddenly the person you thought you had built something with turns into a lying cheater (ironic right?).
Moral: Don’t put yourself in a situation that has so little clarity. Separated is still married and only divorced means divorced!

2) Mr. or Mrs. “Their mate must not be doing something right at home.”

This is the person who believes the hype and justifies having the affair by thinking he or she are the savior. The truth is that there is always more to the story. You see, you don’t have to deal with the person’s flaws. You see the best of that person without ever experiencing the worst of them and you think that because you are “filling the void” then they are going to leave their spouse for you. Let’s just say “I wouldn’t hold my breath.” Instead of trying to fill voids, just respect the fact that they are married and that’s not your job.
Moral: Rarely will people leave their husband or wife for you.  But if they do, be prepared to see another side of them that you might not like as much.

3) Mr. or Mrs. “I didn’t know they were married.”

Okay, I understand that maybe the person may not have been truthful about his or her status, but let’s get real. We live in the information age where you can find out what you REALLY want to know. Between Google, Facebook, and girlfriends that can moonlight as private investigators there aren’t many secrets that can remain secrets for long: ESPECIALLY if the secret is “I’m married”. The truth is that you never did the research or noticed the red flags or asked the question because you didn’t want to; it’s easier for you (and your ego) to play victim in the end. Secondly, when many do find out their new mate is married, too many won’t and don’t stop the affair. Instead of cutting it off, you blame it on love or hope.
Moral: If you really wanted to know you could have found out.
Please don’t think that I’m taking it easier on the people who cheat on their mate by calling out the people they may cheat with….. because that isn’t my goal or my point.  I mentioned in the start of this article about respect, those 7 letters that Aretha sang about.  If we had more respect for relationships and marriages in general, even if they are not our own, it would be much harder for people to step out on those relationships because as I said earlier…people can’t cheat alone.   Affairs don’t “just happen:” they take a conscious decision of two willing participants to start and continue them.  The truth is that if we all placed more value on the institution of marriage then we would all be more accountable for what we do while in them, more relationships would be saved and fewer families would be broken.
BMWK Fam: Do you think we respect the institution of marriage as we should? Why or why not?

3 Types of People that Don't Respect Marriage | BlackandMarriedWithKids.com

These were the two scenarios I mentioned in my comments:Single people, mostly women, who are too bogged down with elder care, single parenting, going both to school and working full time,or launching  their businesses or careers to have time, energy or other resources for a real relationships often opt for affairs with married folk rather than being alone. However, they don't realize that they are squandering precious time, energy, emotion, and damaging important relationships with true friends and family on dropping everything and everybody when their married lover calls and wants to spend a few moments together More often than not,the married person they're seeing is absent for holidays, birthdays and other special times. So what is the single person involved in an affair but alone and lonely. They are risking losing the respect of important people in their lives when their lover's spouse find out and justifiably, dramatically expose them to everyone for the home wrecking ho-bags they are. Finally, they would be better off working on self improvement and working on enriching real, appropriate friendships and family relationships so that when they finally have time for a real relationship they will be bringing more to the table in every way,so they will attract a better partner and have a more successful union.
Sometimes young women perhaps in college who are adults and for whatever reason still live at home with very strict parents who insist that they come home every night  at a certain time rather than spending nights and weekends with their boyfriends often fall victim to the “I didn’t know he was married scam”. If you’re a lady who has to be home at a decent hour every night and have to sneak out and sneak in yourself, you don’t even think twice about the fact that your lover is sneaking around too and why he may have to be discreet. Some of these women’s parents still also restrict how late they receive phone calls, tell them that for whatever reason that it is inappropriate to date right now or ever, and feel that they have the right to decide for their adult children that they will remain virgins or at least celibate until marriage. There lies the respect problem again though.  Respect for parents and the rules of their house and respect for the way you were raised.
Let me know what you think about this?
