Kuumba means creativity and sets the tone for the sixth day of Kwanzaa. This day occurs on New Year’s Eve and considered special. There is often a celebration or feast that accompanies the ritual lighting of the candles (for this day, the last of the red ones). The eldest member present will also read the Tamishi La Tutaonana, a farewell statement to the old year.
