Deception Deception originally aired January 7 to March 18, 2013 on NBC. When a famous wealthy socialite Vivian Bowers is found dead in a motel room from what appears to be a drug overdose. Her estrange best friend Detective Joanna Locasto (Meagan Good) is ask to reconnect with the wealthy Bowers family and investigate Vivian's death. A plan devise by former flame FBI agent Will Moreno (Laz Alonzo) is convince that Vivian's death was a homicide.  In time, Joanna begins to uncover the truth of what really happened with her friend's death and  who was really behind it.  In Deception, nothing is what is appears in the Bowers family. Since it's finale in March, Deception has continued to grow a following with viewing online and OnDemand. As for Amanda Bynes, I'm glad she's getting help whether she wants it or not before it's too late. What say you?

I've grown a little weary of all the talk about what's been going on with Amanda Bynes for the past several months. As a person who battles clinical depression myself and as a friend and family member of people with various behavioral health issues I feel her pain as well as the pain of her loved ones. All the stupid talk, jokes and "bullcrap" as the the author of the article below so eloquently put it is a symptom of a much bigger problem in the United States. That huge problem is our ignorance, lack of understanding and lack of care about mental illness. Rick Warren, pastor and author of The Purpose Driven Life recently spoke out about the stigma related to mental illness in his first sermon since his son's suicide four months ago. We need to definitely work hard to change how mental illness is viewed so that we can improve our track record of treating behavioral health issues. Currently, that treatment track record is piss poor. 

 

I’m Calling Bullcrap On Nick Cannon’s Open Letter To Amanda Bynes

Well hello there, Nick Cannon, welcome to the conversation about Amanda Bynes. It’s strange to see you back here so soon, and on the other side of room. It seems like just the other day you were speaking out to the media, telling us you’d spoken to Amanda and she seemed A-OK, and now you’re ready to offer an entirely new opinion saying exactly the opposite. Isn’t that fun?

Nick and Amanda were co-stars on the show All That back in the day, and since Amanda’s mental breakdown was so public, this sharing of TV air time qualified him to offer a very medical opinion about how she was doing, referring to her meltdown as ‘growing pains’. Which is pretty optimistic for something that’s being referred to as severe mental illness with signs of schizophrenia, dontcha think? But anyway, I’m ready for a new opinion, now that the tide of public opinion has changed, aren’t you?

Now that Amanda has been placed under a 5250 hold, meaning she’s involuntarily hospitalized for two weeks in order to undergo mental evaluation, Nick has released an open letter to Amanda, whom he refers to as, ‘someone I consider family, someone I watched grow up, and someone I genuinely feel is one of the most pleasant human beings I have had the pleasure of meeting.’ He says he didn’t originally answer questions about Amanda, but:

“Sometimes I would answer in a playful humorous manner and sometimes I would brush it off as another Pop culture topic that a reporter was trying to retrieve a sound bite for. [...] After recent events of Amanda being admitted under psychiatric care and reported as 5150, I see this as no laughing matter.”

Up until now it was hilarious. And he has words he wants to go out directly to Amanda, as well, saying ON HIS PERSONAL BLOG WHERE SHE CANNOT READ IT BECAUSE SHE’S IN THE HOSPITAL:

“So I say to my sister Amanda Bynes you’re not alone. I’m here for you. I understand. I care and I appreciate you, because that’s what family does and that’s what family is for… I’m here! Call me! Because I truly believe, the hand you’re helping up today may be the one you’re reaching for tomorrow.”

Please! Call me! I’d love to do more interviews, but the press doesn’t want to hear about ‘dem babies’ forever, and Mariah Carey only lets me make two phone calls a week.

Superheroines and Supervillainesses or Bimbos and Skin Flick Chicks U B the Judge

Now I am no right-wing conservative nor am I a radical feminist, so I believe that smart, strong and sexy can all be rolled into one individual, and I strongly advocate that. So why on earth do our media heroines and villainesses have to be so on or two dimensional? Our media heroes and villains are so well rounded. The heroes are strong, handsome, and intelligent and they have a background all complete with family, friends, enemies, hobbies, and sometimes even a spiritual side. Even the villains in cartoons, comic books, movies or television stories have a history explaining how and why they became evil.

On the other hand, our media heroines just appear on the scene with sketchy backgrounds. They form alliances, but no real relationships. There is usually no explanation for how the villainesses became evil or even how their rivalry with the heroines or heroes began. However, when there is an explanation, it is usually a case of the villainess being a tool of"The Man" to keep a hero or heroine down. An example that comes to mind is from an eighties cartoon, the Smurfs. The main female character Smurfett, was created by the evil Gargamel to seduce and destroy the Smurfs. If it were not for the efforts of Papa Smurf in reprogramming Smurfett or casting a permanent good spell on her, she and the whole Smurf village would have been lost. One thing that almost all of the heroines and villainesses share is their skin-tight, short, skimpy clothing all complete with seductive smiles and mannerisms. Most disturbingly, even the characters who are little girls and teens are very sexualized.

Is this really acceptable? What message is this sending to young and impressionable people about femininity, power, intelligence and most importantly integrity?

"Oh no he didn't" was what I thought when I first heard it. But yes he did as I heard the ridiculous words and read them over and over again. "First of all, from what I understand from doctors [pregnancy from rape] is really rare. If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down." Okay, Missouri Representative  Todd Akin, where did your medical facts from Dear doctors Quack and Scrooge McDuck MD? The Journal of American Obstetrics and Gynecology, says that over 30,000 pregnancies result from rape every year. That doesn't sound all that rare to me.

 Now what really made me want to peel his wig with a quickness was the legitimate rape crap. No victim of any crime or their families need to be re-victimized by law enforcement, doctors or any damn body else by putting the burden of proof that a crime was actually committed on said victim. Certainly, some women lie and state that they are raped when they have been somewhere they should not have been, with some one she should not have been with at some ungodly hour that they should have been at home or where ever they were supposed to be. In the most generous of crime statistics, false rape claims happens about nine percent of the time. In almost all cases the false accuser is arrested and charged with filing a false police report. Additionally, she is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and what ever victim compensation money went toward any her medical treatment, counseling or anything else is ordered by the courts to be repaid by the woman (and garnished from her paycheck, levied from her bank account or taken from her income tax-refund) who filed the false police report. I seriously think that all rape false accusers should receive a good old fashioned ass-whipping from all the rape victims in her local area that can be rounded up at one given time. False accusers deserve as much for helping the chauvinistic, cavemen and cave-women to make people doubt us when we indeed have been victimized.

Representative Akin apologized, stated that his comment about the rarity of pregnancy resulting from rape was medically incorrect and that what he meant instead of legitimate rape was "forcible rape".  Todd my friend, you should have quit while you were ahead. Just say sorry for pissing everyone off including the people who previously supported you in your campaign before you opened your mouth to let your ignorance and chauvinism flow. However, since you chose to go there, let's discuss forcible rape versus statutory rape. Test the validity or "legitimacy"of statutory rape if you will, shall we?  Let's examine just a few examples of what constitutes statutory rape. When a mentally competent and emotionally stable and more mature person engages in sex with a partner who is not their spouse and is mentally ill, intellectually challenged,mentally handicapped, emotionally immature or under the legal age of consent in the state where the sex took place is called statutory rape and is a crime.  It is punishable by imprisonment and the convicted rapist is subject to have to for the rest of his or her life to register as a sex offender when they are released from  incarceration just like a forcible rapist.  When a person is unable to consent because they are unconscious, in a coma, or a persistent vegetative state when the sex takes place even sometimes when the perpetrator is the spouse, sex with a victim is who is physically unable to consent or resist is illegal and also punishable by imprisonment with pervert registry afterward and the whole nine yards. So, when the rubber meets the road like President Obama said "rape is rape" period the end.

Representative Akin, my sincere advice to you is to step aside and allow another republican to run for the Senate seat against Clare McCaskill.Your gaffe, blunder or whatever you want to call it is just a big 'ole gift that keeps on giving to the democratic party. Not only will you not win. Your staying in the race will just help us liberals prove to everyone that the conservatives have declared war on women.  Remember,  just as it is in medicine, it is also in politics, "do no harm".  Speaking of medicine, Representative Akin, stay away from doctors Quack and Scrooge McDuck MD.  They are not your friends. They will only throw you under the bus by taking a massive dump of junk science on and into your head.

Tool Time: 'Aspirin Between the Knees' a Joke to Santorum

Maybe Rick Santorum, Foster Friess and all of the right-wing conservative men are not going to extremes with their efforts to limits women's access to contraceptives and other health services. Rick Santorum says that contraception is dangerous for women. Foster Friess said in an interview with Andrea Mitchell of MSNBC on February 16,2012 that our country is too preoccupied with sex and that in his day, a much simpler time "they used Bayer aspirin for contraceptives. The gals put it between their knees and it wasn’t that costly." On the same day Congress held a hearing on women's reproductive health with no women on the panel. Maybe the conservative lawmakers and supporters aren't right winged. They are just right,just maybe..............

............Duh.....WRONG!!!!!!!!!!What a bunch of crap. Santorum is talking this crazy mess about keeping women out of combat support roles in the military and that it is not right for women to choose to have careers. I really want to organize a sex strike to bring these sexist control freaks to their knees by using the birth control method Mr Friess referred to on last week to protest their serious attempts to throw women back into the dark ages. Sex strikes have worked for women to bring about social change in other countries. There is power in the punany ladies. Let's call it the Un-Occupied Vagina movement. I just hope we aren't as addicted to sex as Foster Friess thinks that we are as American women and that we can make this protest work against the keep 'em barefoot and pregnant agenda. Can you help me please to organize for woman's lives? That's what I'm talking about sisters. This being the beginning of the Lenten season for Christians (I'm ignorant about other faiths so please educate me on other religious observances). Aren't you glad they waited to go crazy and didn't ruin Valentine's day or the weekend before for us? So, this is the perfect time to give up sex for at least the next forty days and forty nights, focus on spirituality and our health as women. However, we should be prepared to fast from sex as long as it takes for the extremist to abandon the bull-crap. We may want to give our bodies a break from the Pill or not take the Depo shot when it comes due during this time of sexual abstinence since Santorum is right about the fact that these birth control methods do negative have side effects. Additionally, when we do resume having sex with our husbands or lovers, we can allow them for a very short time to shoulder the burden of wearing protection when we make love. They will then hopefully truly appreciate all that we go through to make life go more smoothly for all parties involved. Will you join me ladies in the Aspirin Between the Knees Sex Strike of 2012?
